Farms have changed – Only fifteen years ago the typical farm, regardless of cropping enterprise, was very different in structure and management style than it is now. Changing economics have forced the scale of all enterprises upward. There are fewer operators, managers and administrators running larger more complex businesses with fewer and larger machines. Each person is under pressure to deliver more in less time. GateKeeper has been designed with these challenges in mind. It will cope with contract farms and fields rented on an annual basis. Set against a background of increasing demands from the Supermarket, the Consumer, the Trader/Merchant and the Marketing Organisation, across the board expectations are higher. Support payments, no longer production based, require demonstrable compliance with rigorous protocols showing good agronomic and cultural practice.
